Testimonials

Possum,

Serious bow hunters are constantly thinking about harvesting trophy game. They prepare all year by shooting indoor tournaments, 3-D shoots, and constantly in search for the perfect deer lease or outfitter. However, after all of this effort they usually realize that their guide has no P&Y archery experience or their lease has no history or genetics for trophy whitetail.

Break the cycle. Hunt with Trading Post Outfitters / Ed Anders in 2004. During the 2003 Missouri archery season I hunted with Trading Post Outfitters / Ed Anders and I have already re-booked for 2004 turkey and whitetails seasons too. Here's why you should book with “Trading Post Outfitters” and Ed Anders:

I knew Ed had years of successful P&Y archery experience and Missouri had a reputation of growing huge whitetail deer and turkeys. Upon stepping foot in their newly renovated lodge this was going to be different. The lodge is a two story structure which boasts a great room that rivals Bass Pro Shops with trophy P&Y game taken by Ed, family and friends, i.e., Elk, Caribou, Whitetail, Black Bear, Pronghorn and many more. The big surprise was the 35ft tree placed in the middle of the room, which was utilized as the circular staircase to the second floor. Each step was made from nothing less than tree stands. Once up stairs each bed was handmade from cedar (by Ed) with trophy mounts in each room. But here is where the difference in outfitters starts to become crystal clear.

Upon checking in a gift basket containing scent free shampoo, soaps, scent free towel (refreshed daily), and 2-way radios was given to each hunter. Trading Post Outfitters / Ed Anders takes all precautions to remove human scent by implementing scent free soaps, clothing, and Elimitrax systems. These extra steps are critical because Ed has meticulously scouted and placed stands in strategic draws leading to food plots, corn fields, bedding areas, and saddles.

During 2003, I had an exciting hunt. Daily video taped multiple deer and turkey within bow range and even a bedding doe at the base of my tree. One of my most exciting moments was when hunting a rub line (rubs as big as my thigh) and observed an estimated P&Y 200” class whitetail. For over twenty minutes I observed this monarch from 80 yards working his was down the saddle towards my tree stand. Only two obstacles keep me from harvesting this trophy- distance and daylight. He’s still out there according to the officials at the deer check in stations and I'll be back in 2004.

If you're serious about bow hunting trophy whitetail deer and turkey. Book your 2004 trophy whitetail hunt with Trading Post Outfitters / Ed Anders and have an experience of a lifetime.

Sincerely,

Possum,

Last Bow season a friend of mine asked me if I wanted to try an early season bow hunt in Missouri, I said I would. We both choose your place because you are located right in the heart of trophy buck country.

On arrival by car we where greeted by Possum and some members of his family. By the time we left we figured we were also a part of the family. We were your first hunters at the trading post, but we will surely not be the last.

The weather was very hot and the bright moon phase on top of this made hunting difficult. Despite the conditions you and your son made every effort to get Mark and I on a big buck.

The property, your food plots and your set ups are second to none. Although I did not get a trophy buck I saw plenty of deer, we kicked up a nice 10 pointer going into a stand and I had a 4 pointer and a 6 pointer fighting directly under my tree stand on another day.

Both Mark and I had opportunities to harvest a doe on several occasions. I run a successful guide business of my own back home in New York State for deer and turkey hunting, and I know how much hard work it can be.

Your outfitting business is top rate and I plan on returning this year, in fact I am already booked. I would be glad to be a reference for Possums Trading Post any time. Feeling like I am now part of the family,

Possum,

On November 22, 2003 I traveled to Unionville Missouri to hunt with Ed Anders at Possums Trading Post Outfitters. I was greeted by warn smiles and a friendly handshake. Despite the fact that my rifle hunt was at the end of the season, I was assured by the Anders that I would be in for plenty of action.

The lodging can only be described as a combination of rustic and first class. Much work went into the renovation of the old building, into what is now the nicest hunting lodge I have ever visited. The hand crafted beds, kitchen, family room and the rest of the lodge are a work of art.

Becky and the rest of the family do an outstanding job of making sure you never leave the table hungry. Serving a wide variety of food and drink. Dinner conversation is always lively and you are made to feel as if you are one of the family

The land is flawless and massive. The trees stand setups are absolutely textbook. Ed has put much thought into the placement of each stand and you can be assured of plenty of action. The stands are very easy to get into with the hunters safety being a prime concern. The land is private and posted, no trespassers were seen.

On to my hunt: I had a shot at three does on the first evening of my hunt, but decided to pass. The second day of my hunt brought 35 mph winds, gusting much higher, with wind chills below zero. Despite the nasty weather, I saw a 115-120" 7pt, a 130" 10pt and was able to harvest a 142" 10pt sporting a 12" G2.

15 minutes later, I saw a 150-160" buck across the field following a group of does. All of this in less than 2 1/2 hours. The next day Ed put on a small one man drive and I was lucky enough to harvest O’l Split Ear. This doe was considered to be the terror of Putnam county.

The Anders were well equipped to handle my downed game, field dressing and transporting it from the field with the use of their 4 wheeler. They later prepared both of my animals for the trip to the taxidermist.

I have hunted with a great number of Outfitters over the past decade, in several states and Canada. I can, without hesitation, say that Possum, Jamie, Becky and the rest of the family are the best, hands down.

I feel that the trophy potential there is every bit as great as in Canada or any of the other mid-western states. Please feel free to contact me if you have any other questions concerning a hunt with this outstanding Outfitter. Take care and Good Hunt'n.

Possum,

I just wanted to send you a letter and thank you for the wonderful time we had deer hunting with you in November. We all enjoyed our week of chasing those big Northern Missouri whitetails.

We especially appreciated how hard you and your staff worked to make every aspect of the hunt just right. We were not only impressed with the size and amount of whitetails spotted each day but also the incredible amount of turkeys.

Your experience with the land and the habitat, along with your knowledge of bow hunting big bucks, greatly enhanced our hunting experience.

The food, the lodge and the hunting area easily rates among the best. Again, I sincerely thank you for the memorable experience and look forward to many hunts in the future.

Hey Possum,

Just wanted to say thank you one more time for the turkey hunt. I had a great time hunting with the Master. I am sure we will do it again next year. I am going to talk to Ed in a day or two. I am sure he'll be interested in downing a big ole Missouri or Iowa gobbler next year. Take care, good luck hunt'n.
