Trading Post History
The structure that now houses Possum’s Trading Post was built in 1912 as a place of worship known as Rehobeth Church. Rehobeth means “broad places.” The pulpit area has been preserved as a tribute to the old church and a reminder to us that God is the ultimate outfitter and our guide.

The doors were first open for business on April 1, 1995 under the name “Trading Post.” The owners fondly refer to their establishment as the “Store” where they featured their handcrafted Damascus Knives and other primitive items, many of which were made by local skilled craftsmen and artisans. Their dedication to promote and preserve the traditional arts and skills of our forefathers, encouraged us to continue the trading post theme.
We bought the property in 2002, and have been busy “outfitting” Possum’s Trading Post to accommodate our guests. We have added sleeping quarters, toilet and shower facilities, a full service kitchen, and forced air heat and air conditioning. The great-room remains rustic with its original floors, and features wood stoves and ceiling fans for the comfort of our hunters. We can’t wait to share our new “old” hunting lodge with you. We invite you to “broaden” the “places” in your hunting memoirs with an unforgettable stay in North Missouri!
